What the calculator actually does
The Storage Calculator gives you an indicative price for three of the most common storage formats in Australian warehousing:
- Pallets (racked) — for palletised inventory stored in racking, priced per pallet per week.
- Floor (bulk or blockstack) — for goods stored on the floor, priced per square metre.
- Hardstand — for outdoor storage of containers, machinery or oversized goods, priced per square metre.
Enter your volume, choose a location, and you'll get a weekly and monthly estimate in seconds. No login, no sales call, no waiting on a spreadsheet from a broker.
How it works
We've built the calculator on top of PalletMatch — uTenant's on-demand warehousing platform that connects product owners (we call them "space seekers") with warehouse operators who have capacity to share ("space havers").
Every 3PL in our network uploads a current ratecard when they join the platform. When you use the calculator, we look at:
- The storage type you've selected
- The volume you've entered
- The state or city you're storing in
- Current live ratecards from 3PLs servicing that location
We then return an average indicative rate based on what providers in that market are actually charging today. It's not a guess — it's a snapshot of the market.
Where the data comes from
Our numbers are drawn from uTenant's network of 570+ warehouses across Australia. Over the last few years we've matched more than a million pallets of storage, which gives us a pretty good view of what fair pricing looks like in each state.
The pricing behind the calculator is sourced from:
- Live ratecards submitted by 3PL providers in the uTenant network
- Recent quotes issued to uTenant customers for comparable storage briefs
- Location-specific benchmarks across metro and regional markets
We refresh this data regularly so the numbers stay anchored to today's market, not last year's.
A note on "indicative"
The rate you see is a guide, not a quote. Your final price will depend on a few things the calculator can't see — how often your stock moves, any special handling (temperature control, dangerous goods, HACCP), inbound and outbound volumes, and the specific 3PL you end up partnering with. That's why every result sits alongside a Request a full quote button.
